Subject: Robbery 2nd Degree | Date: 01-26-2011 | From: Officer Jeremy Weske | Case or Incident: #110126-019 | Summary:On 1/26/11 at about 8:55 p.m., the Juneau Police Department received a report of a strong-arm robbery that had taken place between two customers inside a business in the 6500 block of Glacier Hwy. A 38 year old female reported that her 19 year old son had just had his iPod forcibly taken from him by Thomas AUSTIN, a 34 year old Juneau resident. The 19-year old told Officers that AUSTIN had showed him a concealed handgun and threatened to use it on him if he did not give him the item.
At about 10:07 p.m., Officers contacted AUSTIN and two females walking on Glacier Hwy near Alaway Ave. Investigation revealed that one of the females, 21 year old Jamie KANE, was involved in the Robbery and had possession of the stolen IPod.
As a result of the investigation, AUSTIN was arrested for Robbery 2nd Degree, a Class B Felony and KANE was arrested for Theft 3rd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. They were both taken to and lodged at Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
