Subject: Accidental Shooting | Date: 12-03-2011 | From: Officer Chris Gifford | Case or Incident: #111203-007 | Summary:
At 3:30 this afternoon, JPD received a report of an accidental shooting in the area of the Hank Harmon Rifle Range on Montana Creek Road. The caller reported the victim of the shooting had been shot in the leg, and was being transported by private vehicle to the Bartlett Regional Hospital. Capital City Fire and Rescue staff, as well as JPD officers, met with the vehicle in the area of the Floyd Dryden parking lot. From there the victim was transported by ambulance to BRH.
Investigation revealed the shooting occured inside of a vehicle. The victim had been driving from the rifle range, when the passenger, who was holding a loaded pistol, attempted to unload the weapon. The gun fired, striking the driver in the leg.
The investigation into this incident is still continuing. |
