On 05/02/2012, at approximately 1450 hours, the Juneau Police Department received a report that a prisoner had just escaped custody from the Juneau Dimond Courthouse. The suspect was identified as 23 year old Juneau resident Talon LOBAUGH.

LOBAUGH was appearing in court after being arrested the previous evening. On 05/01/2012, at approximately 2108 hours, JPD officers attempted to arrest LOBAUGH on an outstanding $5,000 Alaska State Trooper warrant. An off duty JPD officer saw LOBAUGH walking on Mount Roberts Road and notified the police department. When uniformed officers arrived in the area, LOBAUGH fled on foot. After a 9 minute chase LOBAUGH was eventually captured and arrested on the warrant. The $5,000 AST warrant was for failure to comply with conditions of probation, original charges six counts of Forgery in the Second Degree and two counts of Theft in the Second Degree. LOBAUGH was additionally charged with Resisting Arrest.

When LOBAUGH fled from the courthouse he was wearing an orange Department of Corrections jumpsuit and he was handcuffed. AST Judicial Services Officers and four JPD Officers searched the area.

On 05/02/2012, at approximately 1507 hours, JPD Officers located LOBAUGH on a hillside at Main Street near the State Office Building. LOBAUGH was taken into custody and transported to the courthouse. LOBAUGH was returned to the custody of the Judicial Services Officers. Information concerning additional charges for the escape should be referred to the Alaska State Troopers.
