On 10-11-2012 at 2:22 PM, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a truck and a motorcycle, on Glacier Highway near Auke Lake. Arriving officers found a 2012 Kawasaki motorcycle which had struck a 2002 Ford flatbed truck. Both vehicles had been traveling outbound, when the Ford made a left turn into a driveway in the 10000 block of Glacier Highway. The Kawasaki attempted to pass the truck on a solid yellow line, and was struck by the Ford.
The driver of the Kawasaki, identified as 19 year-old Sitka resident Frank Rogers, was transported to the Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. He was cited for Careless Driving.
The driver of the Ford, 26 year-old local resident Maua Nemaia, was cited for driving without a license.
Damage to the Ford was estimated at $4000, damage to the Kawasaki at $500. Traffic on Glacier Highway was limited to one lane for about twenty minutes after the accident. |
