INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: Bear Activity DowntownDate: 04-22-2013 03:47:13
From: Lt. Kris SellCase or Incident: #N/A
Summary:A Juneau Police Department Community Service Officer found two dumpsters in the downtown area that were apparently accessed by a bear or bears in the last few days.

JPD would like to take this opportunity to remind residents that the bears are awake and may be in populated areas looking for food. Please secure dumpsters, avoid leaving pet food out, and look out for foraging bears while walking at night.

Remember that bears that become accustomed to being around people may have to be destroyed. Anyone with questions about how to secure trash can call 586-0600 and ask to speak with a community service officer.
