Summary:On Tuesday August 19th, 2014, at 9:00 AM, the Juneau Police Department will be holding a Quarterly Awards Ceremony. The ceremony will take place in the upstairs meeting room at the Juneau Police Department located on Alaway Avenue.

On November 22nd, 2013, 9 year old Juneau resident Peyton Carson was playing with a friend, who fell and hit her head causing an injury. Peyton called 911 and provided the dispatcher with information that led to paramedics responding and treating Peytonís friend. For her quick response and actions, Peyton Carson is being awarded the Juneau Police Department Citizenís Certificate of Merit.

On June 7th, 2014, Officer Blain Hatch and Officer Jim Quinto were walking on foot in the downtown area. At approximately 3:29 PM, JPD received a report of an unresponsive male in the bathroom of a bar located on Franklin Street. Within seconds, Officer Hatch and Officer Quinto arrived at the bar. The man had no pulse and was not breathing. Officers opened the manís airway, called for an ambulance, and began CPR. Within two and a half minutes, paramedics arrived and took over CPR. Paramedics were able to regain the manís pulse. The man was taken to the Bartlett Regional Hospital and then flown to Providence Medical Center in Anchorage. For their quick response and actions, both Officer Blain Hatch and Officer Jim Quinto are being awarded the Juneau Police Department Life Saving Medal.
