On 07/31/2017, at approximately 8:55 PM, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a robbery that took place at Kenny’s Liquor located at 619 Willoughby Avenue. The caller reported that a man displayed an object believed to be a firearm and demanded money from the register. The man took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot. The male was described as a white male adult, approximately 6’ tall, medium build, and wearing a baseball cap. No one was hurt during the robbery.

JPD officers arrived within minutes and searched the area. The suspect was not located.

On 08/01/2017, at approximately 8:22 AM, JPD received a tip that the suspect in the robbery was driving a vehicle near Commercial Blvd. JPD officers responded to the area and the vehicle with the suspect was stopped on Shaune Drive.

The suspect was identified as 35 year old Juneau resident David Gene Hamilton. Hamilton was detained and transported to JPD. His vehicle was impounded.

David Gene Hamilton was arrested for Robbery in the First Degree, as well as an outstanding $100 JPD warrant for Failure to Appear original charge Driving without a Valid License. Hamilton was transported to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on No Bail.

The investigation is continuing.
