The Consumer Protection Unit of the Alaska Attorney Generalís Office has sent out an alert that phone scams are on the rise in Alaska. Old scams come with new, personalized slants to entice victims. Several victims in Alaska have reported being taken for thousands of dollars in recent weeks by scammers.

If you are the victim of an online or phone scam, you may contact the Juneau Police Department to file a police report. You may also file an online report with the Federal Borough of Investigations Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at https://www.ic3.gov.

The IC3.gov website also provides internet crimes prevention tips, as well as a list of different internet crime schemes.
