Q. What happens if I had to have 80 hours of community service done by jan. 30th? I haven't heard anything yet, do I have a bench warrant?

Dear Juneau Resident,

If you didn't get your mandated 80 hours of community work service done in the time allowed you probably do have a warrant. Even if the warrant is not issued yet this situation will not just go away so the smart thing to do is make some calls and deal with it. Stepping up and being proactive may also allow you to make the best impression possible on the court rather than just waiting for the consequences to catch up to you.

You can call JPD or come to the station and ask for a check to see if you have a warrant. If you do, then expect to be transported to Lemon Creek Correctional Center where you can post bail and get a court date or wait until a judge can see you at 1:15 p.m..

If you don't have a lawyer and there is no warrant yet call the agency where you were supposed to do the community work service and find out the status of any reports that agency has sent to the court. You can work with that agency or your lawyer to make arrangements to turn yourself in to the court for not meeting the requirement.
