Questions Posted to "Ask a Dispatcher"

Q. Hi. I live on thane Road, so my question is what is the cut-off time tomorrow morning for getting through the downtown area headed to the valley.
Thank you.

Dear Juneau Resident,

I know this information is a little late for this year. JPD staff on duty all went off to assignments and Ask A Dispatcher was not checked during the holiday. For future reference, the Juneau parade usually starts at 11:00. The goal typically is to close access at 10:30 to have some time to get those in the route to where they want to be. We often wave through a tour bus full of passengers destined for the Glacier or some other attraction during that buffer period. We usually end up with a totally clear and closed parade route about 10:45. To be on the safe side, people leaving Thane wanting to get through downtown on the 4th should plan to be on the valley side before 10:30.
