Q. There are at least two sport bikers living above Irwin Street downtown. Every (!) nice day they take their bikes down Irwin street going at least 30-40 MPH around the cemetery bend and down Irwin to 12th street. There are small children, toddlers in the houses and condo building in this area. The bikers have zero regard for that, they just speed. Can JPD please do something about that, or would you prefer us residents to try to film or stop them?

Dear Juneau Resident,

That driving sounds dangerous and obnoxious. This complaint will be posted with patrol for extra attention. Lots of people gesture a 'slow down' signal at drivers and there is nothing wrong with that. The universal signal is a hand about chest high, with palm down, as though pushing down. Taking a video is also kind of a universal signal that someone is probably doing something they should not be doing so it is a way of sending a message. If you see an officer writing a citation and recently took video of that person offer it to the officer for court. If the identity can be confirmed it could be helpful.
