Q. What is the maximum legal length for a fixed blade knife to be carried in public?

Dear Juneau Resident,

A fixed blade knife is defined as a deadly weapon. An ordinary pocket knife is not considered a deadly weapon. The laws are quite complicated when it comes to who can carry a fixed blade knife concealed and where it can be carried. You are probably considering a specific scenario so I'm going to direct you to the appropriate state statutes, 11.61.200-220. You can find all of them at

You also want to make sure you are not acting in a manner that causes someone to feel threatened by the knife or the assault statutes also come into play.
