Questions Posted to "Ask a Dispatcher"

Q. Good Morning,
I was wondering if the Juneau Police Department was still looking for an "SUV type vehicle" with spray paint black color and tinted windows? This vehicle was seen approaching some kids at the end of February and asking them if they wanted a ride. Not sure if this problem has been resolved. But I saw a 1990-96 Chevy Blazer fitting this exact description yesterday. I have the license plate number if this is still an ongoing investigation.

Dear Juneau Resident,

I am very glad you brought this up because we should update the press release on the suspicious activity reported on 2-25-10, JPD Case number 100225-022. We have some resolution on the activity reported but still want everyone watching for the same behavior popping up again.

JPD patrol officers saw and stopped the vehicle involved in the original report. The juvenile girl had nailed the description right down to very specific details. The male driver was identified but denied the reported behavior. No witness could positively say the driver JPD contacted was responsible for the suspicious behavior. The female reported to have been with the male JPD was seeking has not been identified. No charges have been filed yet but should JPD reach a point that there is a positive ID on the male and female reported as acting suspiciously on 2-25-10, the case would be re-opened.

It is comforting to know that if the same behavior associated with the same vehicle starts up again, JPD will start the investigation with locating the the now identified vehicle.
