Q. Do Military Police officers make good civilian officers?

Dear Juneau Resident,

Some prior MPs have done very well at JPD but it depends on the individual person, which is what we look at during the background investigation and other testing. In general, prior policing experience is a plus and more of a plus the closer it is in nature to policing in Juneau. Military police work under the Uniform Code of Criminal Justice which is different than civilian law but has many of the same concerns and the differences can be addressed in training.

If you know a prior MP we would like to have an application. We understand that there are bad apples in every profession and every population so no one gets a paved way in had has to do all the psych testing, background, and polygraph examination as we try to weed those folks out.
