Questions Posted to "Ask a Dispatcher"
Q. Not exactly a question, but more of a KUDOS for the author of the daily bulletin. It's finally nice to see that spouses or significant others who commit domestic violence, will have their dirty secrets known. Maybe it will shame them from doing it again in the future. DV assaults in this state are rampant, and we need to make the public aware and increase our efforts to prevent, report, and hinder at all costs, the damage abuse can cause. Good on JPD! Our officers are outstanding, as is our dispatchers. - Another greatful citizen.
Dear Juneau Resident,
JPD has recently changed how we do the daily bulletin in an attempt to make it a more accurate picture of what is happening in Juneau. In the past, dispatchers have primarily been responsible for writing the activity bulletin and they did the best job they could not being on the call and sometimes having limited information themselves prior to reports being finalized.
Now the acitivty bulletin is the responsibility of the responding officer, the person with the best information about what happened. We hope this change assists the public with having appropriate information about what is going on in the community while respecting the privacy of victims and protecting on going investigations.
