Questions Posted to "Ask a Dispatcher"
Q. On sunday morning around 3am I was awakin by a storm of 6 JPD officers sworming into ACS parking lot in lemoncreek, within view of my apartment, there has been no report of anything happening in the daily bulletin. Then on Sunday during the afternoon and night I noticed a single cop pull in and circle through the acs parking lot then 20 minutes later it came back and sat back in the corner of the lot for 20 minutes, also there wasn't anything in the bulletin. I am curious for my safety what was going and how come there wasn't anything in the bulletin?
Dear Juneau Resident,
I know you have since contacted by phone and spoke directly with dispatch, but I feel this information should be posted for anyone else who may share your concerns.
A fight and assault that occurred downtown on Sunday, July 11th, at 2:54 AM, required numerous officers respond with lights and sirens from Lemon Creek and The Valley. This would be the “storm” you witnessed. (There is a press release reference that particular incident if you are curious.)
As for the safety of the area surrounding the ACS parking lot in Lemon Creek, according to officers who were on duty over the weekend, there is nothing to be concerned about. Some noted this may have been a convenient location to turn around, but nothing more than that. Kudos for keeping a watchful eye on your neighborhood!
