Q. Why don't you guys get an easier to remember phone number for non-emergencies? Like, 586-0586 or 586-5860, or even 586-0000? The 586-0600 is OK, but sometimes many people just forget it and either do not call you with reports or dial 911 with a non-emergency. I recommend you at least add another, easier to remember number for non-emergencies - and see what happens! I am sure phone companies or current number owners will be happy to help and give you the number if it's already taken.

Dear Juneau Resident,

This is the first time I am hearing this suggestion! If anyone else feels the same way, please write to us through this service. When dispatchers give someone the number, they usually say "586-zero, six hundred". People seemed to be remembering the number and not calling back on 911. Still, something good to consider and I'll see what others say when they weigh in. Thanks for the suggestion.
