Q. I talked to a friend who is a drug abuse counselor and she said one of her clients is a drug dealer(who left treatment early to go home and pick up her drugs at her house and deal) who stated she had multiple kids dealing drugs at JDHS during lunch, and her average daily take was over $11,000 dollars. Is JPD aware of this? and what is being done about it? Also the dealer makes regular trips to LA to go shopping. Good God, something needs to be done to stop these dealers!

Dear Juneau Resident,

You are absolutely right that the drugs need to stop! And someone using kids to deal...very nice. It sure would be nice to know the name of this client or some particulars about the kids she is using. Your friend probably can't say anything about her client though I will pass on the details you received from her to the school officers and the metro officers.

While I agree there are drugs in the schools and they are a problem, $11,000 a day is either a typo or she is fluffing herself up a bit. The largest drug operation confirmed in Juneau, at the top of its production, was taking in $60,000 a month and trafficked all over Juneau. It would be difficult to take in almost that much in a week in a concentrated area without calling a lot of attention to the situation.
