Q. do you want people to report to jpd if there is people coming up to our houses and asking about personnel info or do you want us to shut the door in their face and have them leave?

Dear Juneau Resident,

I would guess these are the same book/magazine salespeople who have been generating lots of complaints. We have reports that they are pushy and ask personal questions but are not doing anything actually illegal. JPD would advise never answering personal questions unless you are certain it is in your best interests to do so.

Maybe you could ask the salesperson questions? You could get a company name and phone number along with the salesperson's name. Then you could call the person's supervisors and let them know you don't appreciate the behavior and will not be buying anything from them. That may cause the company to re-evaluate sales tactics.

After getting contact you could tell the person to leave and they are legally required to do so. Call JPD if the person persists in contacting you.

JPD always wants to know about suspicious behavior so it never hurts to just call it in if in doubt.
