Q. Is there a junk car ordinance? My next door neighbors have 2 cars that have not moved in a year or more, but sit rusting next to my property line. This makes my home look junky too. How do I anonymously report this and to who?

Dear Juneau Resident,

Wow, you have touched on an issue that is sensitive for many Juneauites. Believe it or not abandoned and junk vehicles on private property are considered litter under City Ordinance (CBJ 36.30) and is enforced by the Code Compliance Officer in the City’s Community Development Department. They have a program called Junk Busters with a hotline, 586-5274, for litter complaints. I would suggest that you give them a call and find out what your options are.
