Q. Early this morning (Sunday) my roommate and I swear that we heard a small pack of coyotes howling near the Spruce St. cemetery in downtown Juneau. The activity lasted for at least half an hour and was very loud. It ended after a gunshot was fired, presumably by the police? We are unable to verify any of this on local news stations so we were hoping that you could confirm.

Dear Juneau Resident,

JPD folks have only seen and heard of coyotes out the road. No one here is familiar with reports of coyotes in town. On the noise side, there were no reports of gun fire but at 3:26 in the morning an officer heard an explosion in the downtown area but couldn't find where the sound originated. Someone on Gastineau Avenue reported his window broke but we don't know if the two events were linked.
