Q. There was an abandoned car picked up on Ladd Street a few weeks ago after it had sat there for about a week - but the mattresses that were dumped beside it have been found thrown in the creek on private property across the street. When abandoned cars are removed, does the personal property go with it. This is an extreme expense and inconvenience to private property owners who end up with someone else's junk on their property.

Dear Juneau Resident,

The community services officers are aware of that situation. JPD has a request in to Gastineau Human Services to do some clean up in that area. In general private property is left inside a towed vehicle but in this case the mattresses didn't fit in the car.
