Q. When there is a No Parking sign with an arrow pointing in both directions what is the closest you can park to the sign? What tools can citizens use to find simular answers on our own?

Dear Juneau Resident,

The Community Services folks, who do most of the parking enforcement in town, say that generally an arrow covers the area from that sign to the intersection. The exception would be that another parking sign indicates the beginning of another zone. In that case the new zone starts at the sign. If you are confused about a particular area you can call 586-0600 and ask to speak with a community service officer. They know the parking zones well and can help you.

We don't know of there being a signage cheat sheet anywhere. The signs are supposed to be self-explanatory and if they are not we have a situation we need to discuss between the police department and the agency responsible for those signs. We appreciate your feedback in that area.
