Q. Can you still park along the side of the road by the bus barn at deharts with a boat trailer, without getting a ticket.Tourists are hogging all the spots by the landing?????

Dear Juneau Resident,

I think what you are seeing is some illegal parking that is common but still inappropriate. JPD's Lead Community Service Officer recently revisited the signage in that area and this is his advice.

The uphill side of the road is posted "No Parking Anytime - Tow Away Zone". The downhill side is posted "No Parking On Pavement". There are a couple spots on the downhill side where possibly a truck and trailer could be completely off the pavement, but most of that side does not have enough of a shoulder to get completely off the pavement. They should also keep in mind that if they are off the pavement, depending on where they park, they may be on private property. I would suggest having them use the harbor's overflow parking lot which is across the road from The Waffle Company.
