Q. Dear Dispatcher-
Is it legal for a tour company to use a residential neighborhood as a parking lot? Every night on David St., 4 stretch M&M tour vans park on the street monopolizing over half of the available parking. Each morning the M&M drivers appear, move the vans and then park their personal vehicles in the spot so it will be there when the shift is over. Can they do that?

Dear Juneau Resident,

As long as the tour vehicles are moving at least every 48 hrs, and they are parked in legal parking areas, there is no ordinance preventing them from 'monopolizing' the parking spaces.

However, you might be able to address this another way. I would guess the manager or owner lives in the neighborhood. You could talk to them about the situation. If you are in condos there might be a owners association to appeal to that one resident is negatively impacting the ability of other residents to enjoy the property.
