Q. I just spoke with you about the family LIVING in a camper on Gastineau Avenue. You told me the CSO went up there yesterday (6/27) and reported everything is "ok". How is it "ok" to be living in camper on a city street for more than two weeks with CHILDREN living in the camper as well and using the ditch as their toilet! We walk our dogs and OUR kids on this street everyday and you're telling me it's "ok" to live on the street in a camper?! I am extrememly disappointed in JPD!

Dear Juneau Resident,

I am so sorry! The officer that went up there talked to a man in the camper who said he bought the camper recently and is just cleaning it. The man claimed he and his family were staying in a nearby residence with his sister. I am getting the feeling you think that is a big fish story. To assist in figuring out the real story JPD has just sent an officer up there to see if, in the pouring rain, the family is in the camper. We can take some more investigative steps on this.

Thank you for letting us know the resolution didn't make sense to you. We are looking further into the situation right this minute.

Responding officers say the vehicle is gone. Let us know if this issue starts up again.
