Q. My kids bought a trailer in Switzer last year. They have worked hard on cleaning it up and making a good impression to the neighborhood. The person they bought it from does not have a good reputation. The police still stop by the trailer looking for people that my kids don't even know, because apparently that is their last known address. It isn't fair to my kids that police show up at their door at whatever time of night looking for people they don't know or are even associated with. How can this stop so my kids can make their home respected like they've worked so hard to do????? They have gone to the station asking this same question and was told the prior people who lived there would have to change their address. Apparently that is never going to happen.

Dear Juneau Resident,

I am so sorry this is happening to your family. You have a sympathetic ear, at least one JPD employee ended up with a phone number that used to belong to someone that owed EVERYONE money, and a phone call is less intrusive than a visit from uniformed officers.

Here is what we can do, we can change JPD records to show the address is not considered valid. Your kids will have to come in and make that request if they were not offered that solution last time. JPD doesn't have the authority to change addresses in the state's criminal information computer.

Time may help change this issue. Summons are worked pretty intensely. Those may become warrants and as the warrants age with no leads officers will look for warrants with more recently reported addresses.
